Whilst the rest of the world is getting used to the ‘New Norm’, we have just spent 2 weeks – glorious weeks – reliving the ‘Old Norm’! What a wonderful time we have had. Margot never fails to provide us with the peace and relaxation required to re-boot for the next year ahead in the outside world. It has been a strange and difficult year but the restorative powers of Clare and Francis’ little piece of paradise have as always worked their magic and been especially welcome. Thank you for everything, it was perfect. It exceeded our expectations and we had a wonderful time.

Thank you Clare & France for a wonderful couple of weeks – just what we needed. The pool was bliss and such lovely walks all around! Thank you also for your invaluable and super helpful advice on our soon-to-be new life down here.

Its been a very peculiar year so far!! If it wasn’t for Covid we would not have been fortunate enough to have found and stayed at La Petite Maison – a gem of a place in wonderful grounds and a wonderful part of France.

Our first visit to your wonderful gite arriving on our 34th Wedding Anniversary after attending our son’s marriage in Lauzun the week before – Celebrations all round! We have had a superb week visiting St Antonin, Najac and Penne which are all amazing places to see. The highlight of the week must be time spent every day in your amazing swimming pool with the superb views. This idyllic cottage is the best we have ever stayed in and in a most beautiful area. Thank you Clare & Francis for being very kind & helpful hosts – especially for looking after our daughter-in-law’s wedding dress!! We very much hope to return here one day soon. We will both take home beautiful memories of our stay.

Another wonderful holiday at La Petite Maison in Margot. Extemely hot weather in our first week but the pool was there for cooling dips. We managed easy walks and enjoyed several ‘pootles’ in the car. As usual we barbecued frequently and ate plenty of salad but enjoyed evenings out the Moulin de Varen, Le Segalar and L’a Terrasse in Laguepie. Thank you so much as always Clare & Francis for a wonderful sejour chez vous and for going above and beyond. Next year can’t come soon enough!

Our first, and not last, visit to La Petite Maison. Simply, the week was perfect (apart from the cancelled Easyjet flight and our road trip via Portsmouth – St Malo-Dinard- Bordeaux!!) We achieved totalcalm and hardly ventured out at all, that will be next year. Thank you Clare & Francis for being superb hosts and great company for ‘aperos’. See you next year!!

Just a quick note to say once again a huge thank you for such a wonderful holiday. The Petite Maison was everything and more that we hoped for and we loved every bit of the holiday and felt fully relaxed by the end of it. Our journey home was good despite the distance and heat and we are already missing La Petite Maison!

This was our first visit to this beautiful area of France and we are so grateful to have stayed at this wonderful, peaceful gite. Thank you Clare & Francis for thinking of everything – your attention to detail was gratefully received. Highlights of our trip – Albi Cathedral – awesome inside and out and the audioguides are well worth the Euros 5 to fully appreciate it. Penne with its mad chateau perched precariously on the cliff top. One hell of a walk to the top but worth it for the view – wear sensible shoes as the path is quite steep and rough. Also Cordes sur Ciel and Najac – both seemingly lost in time. We hope that this will not be our last visit here.

Our first visit to the Petite Maison and we loved it all! Beautiful, well equipped cottage with wonderfully attentive hosts. This place was exactly what the doctor ordered… batteries happily recharged.St Antonin market is a must – loved it! Albi was glorious but also enjoyed many of the ancient hill top towns. We tried the canoeing and the demi-jour over 3 hours was about right (plenty of time to see herons and kingfishers). Wonderful too listening to the cuckoos as we hear too few these days in Norfolk.

Well, what can we say! I burst into tears on arrival and cried again when we left! We wanted rural and rural we got! The peace and quiet of La Petite Maison is absolutely unbelievable! Nothing but bird song (mainly cuckoos) and the distant sound of the bells around the local sheep! The scenery is amazing, stretching out in front of you as far as the eye can see – fields, forests and hilltops. We loved the tranquility of the property and were overwhelmed by the attentiveness but, non intrusive attention we received from Clare and Francis – the perfect hosts. The pool area is so sheltered that it is a natural suntrap and even when you think the temperature is not that warm it most definitely is – we were laying on the sunbeds in cloudy, inclement weather and swimming in the pool much to our hosts amazement (well, maybe not both of us – Mr S was determined not to be put off by a few black clouds). There are so many beautiful villages to visit in the area, and in our short stay I’m sure we only scratched the surface. The market at St Antonin Noble Val on Sundays is well worth a visit, vibrant, colourful and interesting. Najac is a must, the chateaux is amazing, we were lucky enough to visit without hordes of tourists so I was able to make the most of photographing the streets and the fortress. There are plenty of walks on the doorsteps of which we did about three though only clocking up about 7k each time. I am sure if you are out early enough you will see plenty of wildlife, that was our plan but, we were not waking before 9am which is absolutely unheard of so, by the time we got out out all the local wildlife had gone back into hiding!Eating out is an absolute joy, we had a beautiful lunch in the centre of town and our ‘farewell’ dinner was at Le Festin De Babette which was amazing! We can absolutely recommend it!If you are looking for somewhere to de-stress and forget about the worries and woes of everyday life this is the place for you. One week is not enough – we will be back for more – at least two weeks more!!!Thank you Clare and Francis for a memorable and relaxing holiday, we can honestly say that La Petite Maison is at the top of our list of places to return to!
